THE UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION The General Assembly of the Universal Postal Union has accepted the Spanish North Africa Postal Organization (SNAPO) .as its 190th member. The approval was unanimous and it was met with standing ovations by all present participants. The Speaker of the UPU has underlined the intensive postal, and especially philatelic contributions of the SNAPO. The deputy of the SNA, Mr. Ralph Oldmaster, has thanked in his speech all participants for their confidence, and promised future improvement of the SNA postal service, concomitantly with price reductions.
In order to celebrate the event by something unforgettable, SNAPO has quickly overprinted 191 of remaining Miss World sheets, and has distributed at the mentioned ceremony 189 of them to all representatives of UPU member countries. One sheet went to the UPU, and one is conserved in the SNA Postal Museum. Unfortunately, no sheet remained for the numerous SNA philatelists, a fact that SNAPO sincerely deplores.
